30-Day No Eating Out Challenge Week 4

30-day no eating out challenge week 3Well friends, it’s the 4th and final week of the no eating out challenge. To be honest, the 30-days/4 weeks went by really quick. It was nice to plan out a menu for the work week and do my grocery shopping once a week rather than going to the store several times.

What I learned from this challenge is I’d rather eat at home! Not only did I enjoy getting back in the kitchen to make new and favorite meals, but I felt accomplished. If you remember back to the What StrengthsFinder Did for Me post from June, one of my strengths is achiever. By being an achiever I have to feel like I have done something and this challenge definitely made me feel that.

The no eating out challenge also made me step outside my usual routine of recipes and pick up some new ones. A few failed (I did not share those with you), but many were winners so it paid off in the end. You can thank the hubs for being the guinea pig of those good, bad, and ugly recipes. Overall I am glad the hubs and I tackled this challenge and we will continue to cut back on eating out.

By the way, anyone have an Instant Pot? I’ve been considering buying one. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3

Monday: Sizzling Southwestern Chicken from Hello Fresh

Tuesday: Crock Pot Spaghetti Squash with Meatballs from I Wash You Dry

Wednesday: Asian Beef Tacos from Plated.

Thursday: Open-Faced Turkey Patty Melt from Womanista

Friday: Herbed Sirloin Steak over Orzo Pasta Salad from Hello Fresh

If you follow me on Twitter then you know we’re off on another weekend adventure. Just when I thought the traveling was over (sad day) we say yes to a trip with our favorite traveling couple. Hitting the road to New Orleans! Looking forward to some good food and great company. Until next post…xoxo Becca

30-Day No Eating Out Challenge Week 3

30-day no eating out challenge week 3It’s week 3 of no eating out. How’s it going? Are you sticking to it? Just finding out about this challenge? That’s no excuse to not get on board. View Week 1 and Week 2 recipes and get cooking!

I am really shocked at how well the hubs and I are doing with no eating out. Some nights I wish I could order a pizza, but overall the experience has been fun.

This week I threw in a breakfast for dinner recipe. Growing up we did that sometimes and it was always a favorite of mine. Most people don’t have time to make breakfast during the workweek. If you do, please share your secret. For me, breakfast in the morning has to be easy. Something I can blend up or reheat and run. My go-to breakfast is a protein shake with lots of healthy ingredients (minus the heaping spoonful of peanut better).

Monday: Cheesy Chorizo Orzotto with Tomatoes and Spinach from Hello Fresh

Tuesday: Orange Chicken from Love Bakes Good Cakes (Recipe says to use a fryer, I don’t have one, but am able to fry in a skillet.)

Wednesday: Croissant French Toast from The Pioneer Woman (Serve with bacon or breakfast sausage)

Thursday: French Onion Soup Burger with Light Arugula Salad from Plated.

Friday: Tagliatelle Short-rib Bolognese from Closet Cooking (slow cooker option available)

Until next post…xoxo Becca
