Fall Wardrobe Essentials

Fall Wardrobe Essentials

Happy Monday all! You’re probably thinking “Really Becca? Fall? It’s 100 degrees outside!” My response to that is, it’s never too early to start getting your fall wardrobe essentials, especially with Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale starting on Thursday (for card holders). Sale opens to everyone on July 21. More details on this in a second.

How to Establish Your Fall Wardrobe

The first thing I recommend doing is think back to last fall/winter. Were there any items you wish you had? A pair of booties, some basic leggings, a heavier jacket? Pinterest is always a great place for outfit inspiration.

Then go through your closet and see if anything needs to be replaced. Wore out those ankle booties last year? Well now is the time to find new ones.

Next, make a list of things you need to pick up between now and the cold weather. Keep the list with you so if you plan to be at the mall or out running errands you can refresh your memory on what to be on the lookout for. Saving the list on your phone is a good idea.

Lastly, keep your eyes open everywhere you go. You never know when the perfect piece is going to be somewhere you least expect it.

What are Fall Wardrobe Essentials

Tops you can layer

Sweaters of varying lengths and style

Outerwear: vests, jackets, blazers

Bottoms: jeans, leggings, suede or corduroy skirts, wool blend pants

Shoes: booties, knee high boots, duck boots or snow boots (If you live or are traveling somewhere it snows), suede pumps

Accessories: scarves (plaid are my fav for fall/winter), beanies, felt hat, tights

nordstrom anniversary sale 2017

When you hear the term sale you think of outgoing, outdated merchandise. Basically things stores are trying to get rid of. Not the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! It’s new stuff to prepare you for fall/winter. Which is WHY I’m sharing this fall wardrobe essentials post with you before the sale begins. Included in the Nordstrom sale are some items you can wear now. Not to mention the savings on huge brands like Tory Burch, Kendra Scott, Stuart Weitzman, Sam Edelman, and Rebecca Minkoff.

If you do plan to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale make sure you shop early, don’t hesitate on a purchase because it may be gone, and take advantage of the free shipping and free returns. Don’t know what size? Order two and send one back for free!

As a preview of the Anniversary Sale, I looked through their women’s catalog and picked out items I hope to add to my fall wardrobe. Of course I shared my picks with you below đŸ™‚

Once the sale begins I will do my best to share my favorites on IG stories. Follow me! @lexiandlady

30-Day No Eating Out Challenge Week 2

30-day no eating out challengeIf you missed last Friday’s post I announced that the hubs and I have embarked on a 30-day no eating out challenge. It’s for two reasons; to be in control of what we’re eating (aka being healthier) and to save money. For anyone joining us, here are another 5 recipes to get you through the work week.

Remember, leftovers for lunch or put together sandwiches, wraps, or salads. Breakfast is easy too; breakfast casserole, breakfast tacos, pigs in a blanket. Don’t forget to have healthy snacks around too; grapes, carrots, almonds. Keep it simple!

Monday: Chipotle-Glazed Pork Chops with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Broccoli from Hello Fresh

Tuesday: Meatloaf A La Mom with Roasted Root Veggies and Thyme Gravy from Hello Fresh

Wednesday: Clean Eating Mexican Taco Meat from Kim’s Cravings

Thursday: Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef from The Recipe Critic

Friday: Meatball Sliders from I Heart Naptime

If you jumped on this challenge after last week’s post, how’s it going? Have you slipped up at all? A lot of sticking to it merely comes down to planning. Outside of our trip to Fort Worth last weekend, the hubs and I only had one meal out. Not too shabby! Until next post…xoxo Becca
