Weekend Recap: Bachelorette Party in Austin

Oh my goodness this lack of posting is becoming a terrible trend. I feel like I open every post with “I’m so sorry I have been MIA.” There is just so much going on lately and little time for creativity, much less shopping online for all the outfit details! Today I am simply sharing some pictures from this past weekend’s bachelorette party in Austin.

My once student assistant, turned intern, turned friend is getting married in January!!! I am so excited for her because she and her hubby-to-be are adorable. All of us had a great time in Austin and loved sharing the weekend experience with her. Without further ado…

Friday night we all met at the hotel and got ready for dinner. Weirdly enough, few pictures were taken! We ate at Geraldine’s at Hotel Van Zandt in Austin. The food was fantastic! It’s tapas style so you can order several “small bites” and make a meal of it while still trying several items from the menu. With creative cocktails and live music, you can’t go wrong with this place. Check it out for date night if you’re in the Austin area. After dinner we went to a couple of bars on Rainey Street. Such a different vibe to 6th Street and I like it so much better.

Saturday we had brunch at Snooze (a favorite of mine) followed by a half-day wine tour with Discover Texas Wine Tours. Our driver, Jason, was so friendly! We had a great time and I highly recommend this tour company if you are looking to do a wine tour. We stopped at Deep Eddy Vodka distillery, Duchman Family Winery, and Salt Lick Cellars. All were stunning visually. I was a little sad the weather was overcast and cold, but at least there was good lighting for pictures đŸ˜‰Â  Saturday night we went to Rainey Street again and met up with some guys from a bachelor party we met the previous night. They were hilarious and kept us laughing until the bar closed. Visit Lustre Pearl if you want a casual, but lively place on Rainey. Great views of the skyline from the second floor!

Sunday I drove home to get the hubs and we headed to Houston for a couples shower. Sometimes I feel like the bride and groom are the younger version of us.

Austin Marathon Weekend

Hi all! This weekend was a fun one for the hubs and I. We traveled to Austin, TX (about 3 hours from where we live) to watch a friend and her mom participate in the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon. This is not their first race and I doubt it will be their last. Our friend did amazing and even powered through a bum knee for miles 4-13.1. She’s a rock star!

Friday night we went out on 6th Street. The hubs and I decided it was a good thing we didn’t attend The University of Texas at Austin because we would have never graduated haha

Saturday was relaxing. We started the day with brunch at Austin Java (Barton Springs location) and then walked to pick up race packets. On the way back to thecar we stopped at a store called Great OutDogs, a cute little shop filled with dog toys, beds, leashes, and treats. We bought a cute, plush lizard toy for Lexi and she’s in love with it. Then we headed back to our friend’s house to hang out and make race day posters (you’ll see pictures of them below).

On our way to pick up packets

Sunday was race day and we got up pre-crack of dawn (I am not a morning person so this was tough, but for a good reason I guess lol). Experiencing the energy and people watching was incredible. The hubs and I had a great time in the cheering section. We managed to get a great spot near the finish line! After the race we had brunch at Red’s Porch, highly recommend!

About to cross the finish line

The things the hubs and I love about the Austin area is how friendly everyone is, how people walk places instead of getting into their car to drive a short distance and the many dogs that join you at restaurants. It’s a relaxing atmosphere and we both enjoy our visits there.

Until next post…
xoxo Becca
