In with the New, 2017 New Year Resolution

If you haven’t already noticed, the blog had a makeover! I have been wanting this for soooo long and as a Christmas/birthday present the hubs had it done. I like the clean modern look and hope you’re able to find your way around easily.

Not only did Lexi & Lady get a makeover visually, but it was migrated from a Blogger platform to WordPress. Being that I have never used WordPress I know it will take me awhile to figure things out. Please be patient with me while I learn the features. The update included a domain name (www.lexiandlady.com) so bookmark it! Another feature I added is the ability for my friends, family, followers to subscribe (see right column below archives). Again…still figuring all that out, but I would love for you to subscribe to stay even more connected 🙂 While I am talking about staying connected, make sure to “like” and “follow” Lexi & Lady’s new social media accounts. I love hearing from those who read so leave a comment, like a status, whatever you feel like doing.

Why the change? In my 2015 New Year Resolution I claimed 2015 would be my year and my focus would be on myself (physical, mental, emotional wellness). Turns out 2016 became the year that brought me a lot of that wellness and happiness I had been aiming for. The ability to enjoy time with the hubs and travel the world made me the happiest I can remember being in a very long time.

When I began thinking about my focus for 2017 I was at a loss. I’ve done and seen some pretty amazing things this year, how could it get any better? Then I realized that although it has been a fantastic year I still wanted to take my professional life and this blog one step further. About that time I came across this quote and instantly fell in love with it. This is my motto for 2017.

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." -Anatole France

What is your New Year Resolution this year? I’d love for you to leave it in the comments below.

New Year, New You

Welcome to 2016! Why is it the new year always brings the feeling of a clean slate? Not that I mind, it’s a great time to start something new, kick a bad habit, or improve on yourself.

I couldn’t help but share this cartoon, it is an honest representation of what a lot of us do with our well intended New Year’s Resolution. The best two resolutions I’ve accomplished were giving up soda and fast food. Even now I hardly ever eat at fast food restaurants, but I do struggle with no soda when it comes to Dr. Pepper. The second was several years ago. As a “fixer” I try to fix everyone’s problems. This particular year I worked on being a good friend and listener, but when the conversation ended it was time for me to forget about it rather than try to come up with solutions and then worry the person wasn’t taking my advice.

My motto for 2015 was “this is my year.” I stepped outside my comfort zone on so many occasions and I grew as a person. The hubs and I made a lot of choices in 2015 and we couldn’t be more happy with the outcomes.

To be honest, after 2015 I’m not sure what to tackle next, but this caught my attention. It’s an extension of past resolutions, but 2016 could be the year I apply this more. I am a people pleaser and a fixer so this speaks volumes to being more self focused.
