Weekend Recap: Billy Bob’s Texas

Hi all! Is it really a Monday again? This post is going out a little late because allergies have gotten the best of me. I’ve taken the day off work to hopefully get better. There is something to be said about listening to your body when you start to feel drained. Wish I would have done that. Nevertheless, the hubs and I had a great weekend together, including Billy Bob’s Texas and a few local restaurant finds.

Saturday morning we made the trip to Fort Worth. One of my friends bought her first home and we wanted to see her and the new place. It’s super cute and has an amazing backyard! I’m looking forward to seeing what all she does with it. Saturday night we went to Billy Bob’s to see Eli Young Band. The hubs and I had seen them earlier this year, but this performance was way better.

I have to say, I was really impressed with Billy Bob’s! It’s “The Worlds Largest Honky Tonk” and they aren’t lying. The best part, NO smoking. Somewhere over the last 5 or 6 years I cannot stand to be in a smoke filled bar so I was super happy about this policy. For safety reasons they also have a new bag/purse policy, so ladies definitely check that out before going.

If you want to grab dinner before Billy Bob’s, we went to Los Vaqueros – Stockyards. Really convenient location as it is across the street. For a late night meal we had bacon covered in pancake batter and deep fried at Ol’ South Pancake House. It’s not on the menu, but you should ask about it đŸ˜‰ Thank me later lol

I hope everyone has fun plans for the 4th! If these allergies don’t go away you will find me laying on the couch.

Did you check out Friday’s post? I added a grocery list to make your life even easier. Check back this Friday for another week of recipes. Until next post…xoxo Becca

Weekend Recap: Waco, TX

Weekends fly by don’t they!? I had a great weekend with a good friend who moved to College Station last fall. She invited me to stay Friday night and go to Waco on Saturday. I wanted to visit Magnolia Market and that is exactly what we did.

Friday night we checked out a local bar my friend’s coworker recommended called West End Elixir. It had a laid back, sophisticated vibe in a speakeasy like environment. There was live music on the patio and the drinks were delicious. Drinks are made with fresh squeezed juices and ingredients.

Saturday we arrived in Waco about 9:30 and went to Magnolia Market first. The line for the bakery was out the door and down the street so we skipped the long line (and the calories). Made our way into the Market and warehouse to see the quintessential Fixer Upper decor. Word of advise, there is a store down the street called The Findery where you can buy almost identical pieces without the crowds. The grounds of Magnolia Market are adorable and I can see the allure of visiting. Around every corner there is something to look at. It’s very homey, welcoming, and family oriented. Don’t forget the food trucks!

My friend and I spent about an hour at Magnolia Market before heading off to Homestead Craft Visit (about 15 minutes north of the Silos). Homestead Craft Village was recommended by a friend and I am so glad she told me about it.

Homestead Heritage is an agrarian- and craft-based intentional Christian community. Its literature stresses simplicity, sustainability, self-sufficiency, cooperation, service and quality craftmanship.

We ended up staying there most of the day and had lunch at the cafe onsite. They have craft shops where you can see demonstrations of how things are made; pottery, gristmill, forge, woodworking, etc. The items created in the craft shops are available for purchase in their main shop, The Barn. Before leaving we stopped at the Market to buy some of the locally made or sourced honeys, bread, soaps and lotions. If you are making the trip to Waco, this is worth the visit.

All really cute shops! After our day trip I headed home and spent Sunday getting ready for the week. I hope you had a good weekend and have a great week ahead. Until next post…xoxo Becca
