Friday Favorites: Tips for Closet Organization

Welcome back! We are about to enter the time between the month of organization (aka January) and spring cleaning. What a perfect time to do some closet organization?!

Declutter

There is no need to keep clothes you haven’t worn in forever or clothes that don’t fit. Why not take the time to free up some space for new clothes? Every woman ought to like the sound of that! To begin purging my closet there are 3 categories items fit into; keep, trash, donate. The end.

Noteworthy, if I have a lot of time on my hands, I purposely wear an item and once washed I place it in a different section of my closet. Each day I can only select from the “not worn yet” section. Therefore, when I make it to the “I don’t have anything to wear” phase I know the remaining items in that section get tossed or donated. Leaving everything I have worn recently remaining.

Make the Most of the Space

Have empty wall space? Add a few nails to hang long necklaces or add towel bars for scarves. I recently placed Command hooks on the back of my closet doors to hang empty purses I use frequently. The others remain in their dust bags on the top shelf.

Boxes and Bins

I love the look fabric boxes or bins give to a closet because it is a great way to hide items you need to keep, but aren’t using at the moment. For example, swimsuits, cover ups, that big floppy sun hat.

Be Resourceful

Just like making the most of the space, using tricks and everyday items to add a little organization is key. One of the best suggestions I ever saw (thank you Pinterest) was to use pool noodles as forms for your boots. Rather than buying expensive boot shapers, next time cut a pool noodle in half. This method works just as well at a fraction of the cost. Here’s another one for clutches, a wine rack!

I hope this information and resources give you the motivation to get in your closet and organize! Do you have any tips for closet organization? Share in the comments below.

Until next post…xoxo Becca
