Velvet Crush
Happy Monday! This is my first Monday post in awhile, but I’m glad to have some content for you. If you missed Friday’s post, go read my first guest post written by Taylor from Taylor Danielle Blog. Today I’m talking about a very trendy fabric this season…velvet!
This brings back some childhood memories for sure. I remember having a black velvet cami and a bright blue mock turtleneck velvet top. Both were hideous 90s fashion, but velvet is back and I’m totally crushing on it now (HA see what I did there…crushing).
I like the textural element velvet brings to an outfit. Sometimes fabrics can fall flat, but velvet punches it up a notch. Not just for your holiday party attire either, this trendy fabric can be incorporated into your every day wardrobe. For example, add these loafers to your business attire or keep the velvet minimal by wearing this top under a blazer for work or a moto jacket for happy hour or dinner. Feeling super casual? What about this baseball cap with an oversized sweater and skinny jeans?
Velvet vs. Velour
Velvet and velour are very similar fabrics and are often mistaken for each other. For the purpose of this post I went ahead and selected items from both the velvet and velour categories. Including the post image featuring a velour dress from Nordstrom. Velvet is much older and known for its luxurious feeling. It’s made through a weaving pattern that loops all the treads in the same direction. Velour is more affordable and often made with cotton or a synthetic fiber.
I picked a few items in case you would like to add this trend into your fall wardrobe.
I’m looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday. Lets be honest, the food is what I am excited about. Plus there’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you’ve been around for past holidays you know I do the majority of my shopping online to avoid crowds so coupon codes and free shipping make me super happy. Until next post…xoxo Becca

I am totally obsessing over the velvet trend right now. There is a blazer that I really need to order ASAP before it sells out (since I keep dreaming about it!)
