Lavender + Laser Cut

Knox-Rose-Womens-Knit-Tank-with-Neck-Embroidery Magnolia-Mey-Laser-Cut-WalletTOP: Target | JEANS: Lucky Brand | CLUTCH: Magnolia Mey (old) similar, similar

Last summer I bought this Knox Rose tank from Target because I love a super flattering top with a little embellishment. It ended up being one of my go-to tops last summer. When I saw Target had this similar lavender tank I knew it had to go into the dressing room with me. Like the top from last summer, this one is also comfortable and super flattering. Naturally it came home with me 🙂 The embroidery around the neck gives you the flexibility to dress it up with cute wedges or be casual with flats or sandals.

The hubs and I went on vacation to Costa Rica last year and stayed at an all inclusive resort. I knew having a bag wouldn’t be necessary, but an oversized wallet or clutch would be perfect for trips to the pool and to dinners. I had seen this white laser cut wallet/clutch on Magnolia Mey’s Instagram and immediately wanted it. The day before we left I stopped at Magnolia Mey to purchase it. Boy was I right about it being perfect. The shape, size, and amount of “storage” was great. For some reason, laser cut detailing screams summer to me. Magnolia Mey doesn’t have the white version online anymore, but there is gold and blush. I’m really eyeing that blush one 😉

As you may know by now, I am all about putting together outfits that are reasonably priced and still fashion forward so hopefully this has given you some inspiration or even made you think “must have” Enjoy your weekend and remember to check back on Mondays and Fridays!

Until next post…xoxo Becca

Peplum Tank

Peplum

When I think of peplum I think of feminine, flounce, and a ladylike appearance. In fact, several of my suit jackets are this style and it gives the suit more of an edgy, feminine flare to it. Obviously that style isn’t appropriate in all business settings, but if the culture of your company or organization allows, I highly recommend it.

I feel like peplum style has been seen more and more over the last several years and I like it! I used to be very against this shape and felt it brought to much attention to my hips, but in fact a well placed pouf can hide wide hips and accentuate or create the illusion of a tiny waist. Just remember, whatever is below the flounce should be streamlined. There is no need for a peplum top and wide leg trousers, it just doesn’t give you good shape!

The Look

I came across this tank at Target and immediately knew it was a good transition piece. It’s light and airy and not too bright and colorful like what we are starting to see for summer colors and patterns. The embroidery across the chest and torso is delicate and a feminine blush color.

Here I paired the tank with black skinny jeans and neutral wedges and handbag. I would have loved to find some blush or light pink skinny jeans because that would have given it any even nicer spring feel.

Adding neutral accessories make this tank the focus of the look. Plus it’s the season for neutrals…hello spring! 🙂 My favorite spring neutrals are a creamy off-white and pale pale blush.

Do you own any peplum? What are your feelings about it? Love? Hate? Indifferent?

Until next post…xoxo Becca

Bonus: Lexi came along for the photo shoot 🙂
