I get asked a lot about my daily makeup routine, guess people like the natural look. I like my makeup to enhance my natural features rather than covering myself up (notice those freckles). Not to say I don’t try my hardest to hide dark under eyes! I’m going to jump right into describing my routine and link the products I use. My makeup brushes, minus my e.l.f. brush, are an old Sephora set, but I have included similar brushes.
Before I apply anything I take a makeup removing wipe (Ponds are my favorite) and cleanse my face. It removes any leftover makeup, sweat, or dirty that remains. Essentially giving you a clean canvas to work with.
After my skin is dry I apply REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream. I use this both before bed and in the morning. I have dry skin and this helps hydrate it throughout the day/night.
While the cream absorbs I usually take this time wet my beautyblender, apply a lip treatment, and get my foundation ready. I don’t always use the beautyblender for foundation, but occasionally I will.
I have tried a lot of foundations both high-end and drugstore and honestly I can’t decide which ones I like so I keep rotating. Right now I’m using L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation in 202 Creamy Natural. Even though I prefer a matte look, the pro-glow doesn’t make my skin appear dry. I place this on the back of my hand and use an e.l.f. Selfie Ready Powder Blurring Brush to pick up product and blend it in. The brush isn’t technically a foundation brush, but the densely packed shape and size distributes product quickly and easily buffs all over the face.
To cover those under eye circles I mentioned I use a generous amount of Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer Treatment in the color light in a triangle shape under my eyes extending down to my nose. I blend this out with my damp beautyblender. Using the excess product to conceal/prep my eyelids too.
Then I set everything with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder and a large powder brush. During the summer I tend to use more setting powder because well it’s Texas and it’s hot and humid. If I don’t, I feel like my face is melting off!
The eyes have several steps, but again, I keep it natural looking. For most of this process I use eyeshadow from Urban Decay’s Naked2 Palette. Using an angled shading brush, I cover my entire lid with Foxy. I feel it helps set the concealer I added and gives a smooth base for the rest of the shadows. Next I use a tapered blending brush to apply Tease in my crease. I blend it back and forth in a windshield wiper motion. I pick up the color Verve on my finger and tap it across my lid, below the crease. Verve is a warm pewter color with a frosty finish. I like how it makes my green eyes pop. BTW, some eye shadows just seem to apply best using your fingers! To highlight my brow bone, I once used Bootycall, but I’ve been out for awhile so I reach for an eyeshadow brush and Morphe’s Jaclyn Hill Palette. Picking up Beam and tapping off the excess, I blend the eyeshadow just below my eyebrows.
Since I am a redhead my hair (in addition to my skin) is very light/fair. For years I didn’t add product to my eyebrows, but the older I got and the more I learned, I realized I needed to make my eyebrows stand out. The powder I use is no longer available, but here’s a product I had used on me when I had my makeup done. I liked the finished look. It’s the Dior Backstage Brow Palette in Light. The two shades of powder help define the brows while the wax sets it all in place. I use a spoolie and angled brush to apply.
To finish the eyes I add a coat or two of L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara in Blackest Black to my top lashes and one coat Maybelline Lash Discovery Mascara to my bottom lashes. My favorite mascara is Diorshow, but I am allergic to something in their formula. The Voluminous Lash Paradise is the closest thing I have found to Diorshow. Maybelline’s Lash Discovery’s wand is the best for getting my lower lashes coated.
At the beginning of my routine I applied lip treatment. I will either add Chapstick and go about my day or apply NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien (rose pink). It’s my favorite “my lips but better” color.
To finish the whole look (back to that Texas heat and humidity comment) I spray my entire face with NYX Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray in matte finish (thank you Veronika from Veronika’s Blushing for this product find).
I hope you all enjoyed this daily makeup routine post. Maybe you found a new product or two in it. Share your favorite daily makeup products in the comments below.

Hey! Did you snag some good finds from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? I got my order purchased (see what was in my shopping bag) and now I wait for the goods to arrive. I will be honest, I placed a rather large order and am hoping I don’t love everything otherwise it’s going to take me a little while to pay off. Not really the “Dave Ramsey” way. The hubs and I have still been trucking along on Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps and doing pretty well. We will both be very happy when everything is paid off. I digress, let’s get to the post…
Before the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale there was the J. Crew Factory 4th of July sale were I got everything 50-60% off. For years I have looked at their pieces and never purchased anything. Mostly because I wasn’t sure of the quality. At 50-60% off I gave it a go and I am happy to report I kept most of my order. Everything I ordered was intended for work. I’m especially excited about this leopard print pencil skirt! Insert heart-eyed emoji. You know me, love black and white! See what I loved in the widget below.
