Ankle Pants + Stripes

express columnist ankle pants and portofino shirt

TOP: Express | PANTS: Express | PUMPS: DSW (old) similar, similar | EARRINGS: Kendra Scott | BAG: Coach (old) similar, similar

Back this Monday with another work wear look for outfit inspiration. Since I was in college, Express has been a go-to store for a lot of my professional outfit. They’re clothes fit me really well and they last a long time.

The Look

My favorite Express pants were the Editor style, but recently I have found myself loving the Columnist fit. These ankle pants are a great length for me and don’t require altering. I’m always between short and regular length. Short is too short and regular has to be hemmed. #shortgirlproblems

This look combines my favorite pattern (stripes) with a very classic pant. In my opinion, straight leg pants give a very chic, sophisticated look. Express now has a bunch of colors in the ankle pants and I have been eyeing the coral ones. The Portofino shirts are a great modern look. Wear it like this or tucked into a pencil skirt! Both are great options.

Depending on your job requirements, pick sensible shoes. My positions have always required me to walk and stand frequently. Not to mention since I work at a university…hike across campus. These wedges are a favorite of mine from DSW, but this particular color is sold out. The same style (in merlot) can be found here. I have found wedges are great, but also alternating high and low heels throughout the week saves my feet.

Until next post…xoxo Becca

12 Spring Dresses to Add to Your Closet

Springtime is full of events; graduations, weddings, baby/bridal showers, festivals, did I mention weddings? haha Here are 12 great spring dresses to add to your closet this season to cover all those events you have coming up! Three styles I am loving this season are floral, stripes, and brushstrokes. I included other fun styles like cold/exposed shoulders and classic lace and eyelet or laser cut.

Craving Spring Dresses with Pattern
Floral

Floral patterns have been a big trend over the last few seasons and last spring I shared my newfound obsession with them! It’s an easy go-to pattern that works for casual and dressy events depending on the cut of the dress and fabric used. There is the obvious floral and then more of an abstract floral/pattern.

Stripes

Stripes are always a classic, warm weather staple! I instinctively think nautical, but stripes come in many forms, for example narrow stripes and classic black and white stripes. My favorite way to feature stripes is to pair different types together.

Brushstrokes

The casual style of a paintbrush stroke has a sort of whimsical effect to it. A very blasé or laid back feel. I like when pastel colors are used because it reminds me slightly of watercolors.

With Texas summers right around the corner, stocking up on pieces, like spring dresses, is important to carry you through the heat! Wearing dresses and skirts is a great way to stay slightly cooler! Luckily this time of year is pretty though with the mild temperatures and sunny days. Although this weekend’s forecast has a lot of rain 🙁

What is your favorite go-to look for a spring event? Have any events coming up? Rent the Runway is always an option!

Until next post…xoxo Becca
