Friday Favorites: Drugstore Foundations

Hi ya! I hope everyone had a good week. Today I’m sharing two drugstore foundations. It’s easy to spend $30-$50 on a foundation, but it’s painful if it doesn’t work well and you’ve now wasted money. Both drugstore foundations mentioned today were recommended to me by my sister-in-law (thanks girl!).

e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation

First off, it’s $6! They have six shades, which doesn’t offer a lot of options, but if you find one that’s your color and you like the formula then you have probably saved yourself some money. I like that the bottle comes with a pump. The foundation is a semi-matte and lasts pretty well. I tend to touch my face throughout the day or rest my chin on my hand while I work so it wears off quickly in spots.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25-Hour Foundation

Whoa! When they say lasts 25 hours, they aren’t kidding. At the end of the day this foundation is still going strong. 7 shades available. SPF 20, which for this fair skin girl is pretty important! I put it to the test with a day on the lake; my face did not burn and the foundation did not wear off. Rimmel recently changed the packaging (I thought they discontinued it since I could find the old tube) and I haven’t purchased it in the new packaging, but I read reviews saying it tends to be messy. Disappointing, but the product is great.

What are your favorite foundations (drugstore or not) and why?

Until next post…xoxo Becca

Recent Purchases – Beauty

Recent Purchases - Beauty

I have not sat down in awhile to write a post so I thought why not share things I’ve purchased recently and do reviews.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream
I received this as part of my FabFitFun box. According to the description, it “delivers moisturization while maintaining a gorgeous, healthy glow.” I would agree with that. I put it on in the morning under my foundation and when I wash my face at night it still feels hydrated. Same with at night, when I wash my face in the morning I can feel the product still on my skin.

Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm
I saw this on IG over and over again and thought “Oh what’s the hype about” and figured I would try it for myself. It took me awhile to like it because it was SO different from my previous cleansing process. After a few weeks of using this I noticed my skin wasn’t as dry immediately after removing my makeup. I find it easiest to use this product with the muslin cloth in the shower. Otherwise I make a mess at the sink. If you aren’t willing to spend the full price, they do have a mini version.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation
Since having Baby G, my skin has
been different. I don’t know if it is hormones, age, lack of sleep or a combination of all. My go to foundation for the last couple of years has been L’Oreal’s Infallible Pro Glow, but now it rubs off or looks patchy by the end of the day. When I saw an ad for their 24-hour Infallible foundation I thought that might be what I need. Not so much. It’s a very thin formula. For good coverage I have to use double the amount of product and it doesn’t last any longer than the Pro Glow. At this point I think I will need to start spending the extra money on a more high end foundation.

Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin, and Nails Gummies
Postpartum hair loss…it sucks! My hair started falling out about 6 months after Baby G was born. Right around the time my milk supply dropped and I stopped breastfeeding and pumping. Here I am 10 1/2 months postpartum and my hair is still falling out. How long does this last? I have no idea! With my hair getting thinner and thinner I knew I needed to do something. I add Vital Protein’s Collagen Peptides to my shakes (when I have time to make them), but haven’t see any changes. Probably due to lack of consistency. My sister-in-law did chemo for colon cancer and I asked if she used any products to help her hair grow back and she recommended Nature’s Bounty. So far I feel like my new growth is much more visible so I am happy with the product and will continue to use it.

That’s all for now. Being in quarantine means much less beautifying happening. I guess some people have found it a great time to test out new products, but for me, I have enjoyed doing less. Until next post…xoxo Becca
