Jackson Hole, Wyoming Vacation Recap

Happy New Year! If you have been reading for awhile then you know my family spent Christmas in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was the first of hopefully many Christmas vacations to come. Today I am sharing pictures from the sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge, snowmobiling adventure, and the town center. As a bonus I will also give the Cliff Notes version of what almost kept us from enjoying the time away. Let’s start there…

The Great Debacle
Part 1

As we approach the airport area my sister-in-law realized she does not have identification. We have roughly 90 minutes to make a trip home and back to the airport with a drive time of about 80 minutes. She manages to find a friend to pick up her ID and meet us. This shaves off a few minutes, but we still have to park, be shuttled to the airport, check-in, go through security, and get to our gate. Needless to say we came in on two wheels and got all luggage checked.

Part 2

As a warning to anyone traveling through airport security. Do not wear any rhinestones! I wore jeans with rhinestone detailing around the back pockets. I have worn these jeans through airport security before with no problems. However, this time I got stopped and frisked as the family frantically stared on and continued to check the time. Luckily our plane arrived late causing us to board late.

Part 3

We arrive in Jackson Hole, but no one’s luggage arrived. The airport forgot to load luggage onto the plane before takeoff. As Texans we had lightweight clothing on and no winter weather gear šŸ™ Luggage wasn’t delivered to us until 1am and even then 3 pieces were missing (they arrived the next afternoon). We spent the first night buying pajamas, toothbrushes, shampoo, and other essentials.

After our luggage arrived things went much smoother.

Sleigh Ride | National Elk Refuge

I highly recommend doing this if you visit Jackson Hole during the winter. The sleigh will get you close to the elk in their natural habitat. The history of the refuge is very interesting and important to the survival of the elk who migrate there each year.

Snowmobiling | Green River & Bridger-Teton Outfitters

Located about an hour south of Jackson Hole we meet up with guides Pat and Jill from Green River & Bridger-Teton Outfitters for snowmobiling. The area is so beautiful! Pat and Jill are such nice people! In the summer months they offer horseback adventures and fishing.

Tower Center

We spent a great deal of time in and around the town center. It’s beautiful at night and a quaint ski town. Tons of shops, art galleries, and restaurants.

Snow Fun

We had snowball fights, made snow angels, created a snowman, rode the Cowboy Coaster, and went tubing. Sidenote: The tubing operation was less than efficient, I don’t recommend it if you’re visiting.

I’ll write a vacation guide soon to include some of the shops to visit and the restaurants to eat at. Thanks for reading.

Until next post…xoxo Becca

In with the New, 2017 New Year Resolution

If you haven’t already noticed, the blog had a makeover! I have been wanting this for soooo long and as a Christmas/birthday present the hubs had it done. I like the clean modern look and hope you’re able to find your way around easily.

Not only did Lexi & Lady get a makeover visually, but it was migrated from a Blogger platform to WordPress. Being that I have never used WordPress I know it will take me awhile to figure things out. Please be patient with me while I learn the features.Ā The update included a domain name (www.lexiandlady.com) so bookmark it!Ā Another feature I added is the ability for my friends, family, followers to subscribe (see right column below archives). Again…still figuring all that out, but I would love for you to subscribe to stay even more connected šŸ™‚ While I am talking about staying connected, make sure to “like” and “follow” Lexi & Lady’s new social media accounts. I love hearing from those who read soĀ leave a comment, like a status, whatever you feel like doing.

Why the change? In my 2015 New Year Resolution I claimed 2015 would be my year and my focus would be on myself (physical, mental, emotional wellness). Turns out 2016 became the year that brought me a lot of that wellness and happiness I had been aiming for. The ability to enjoy time with the hubs and travel the world made me the happiest I can remember being in a very long time.

When I began thinking about my focus for 2017 I was at a loss. I’ve done and seen some pretty amazing things this year, how could it get any better? Then I realized that although it has been a fantastic year I still wanted to take my professional life and this blog one step further. About that time I came across this quote and instantly fell in love with it. This is my motto for 2017.

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." -Anatole France

What is your New Year Resolution this year? I’d love for you to leave it in the comments below.

Until next post…xoxo Becca
