Drugstore Makeup First Impressions

Drugstore Makeup First Impressions

Last Monday I shared I had picked up these drugstore makeup items to test out, hence the title “Drugstore Makeup First Impressions.” I ran out of what felt like everything and didn’t want to spend a million bucks to replace them with items from Sephora or cosmetic counters. Last week I tried each of these products so I thought I would give you a first impressions review. The prices listed are what I paid at Target.

L’Oréal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup

Description: Medium coverage. Skin-improving. Luminous finish.
SPF: Yes, 20
Color Range: 15 in warm, neutral, and cool
Price: $10.99

I love there is a good range of color options in warm, neutral, and cool tones. I first noticed the product was really watery. The full description says it contains 40% water for hydration, but this means the coverage is thin unless I doubled the product. After about 8 hours the coverage is blotchy. Overall I wasn’t impressed and I don’t think it will be repurchased.

L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation

Description: Up to 24 hour wear with a hydrating glow. Lightweight and creamy, goes on smooth with a glow that lasts. Medium coverage.
SPF: Yes
Color Range: 12
Price: $11.99

Last summer I shared my favorite drugstore foundations and this one definitely makes the list now. The coverage is great! With a minimum amount of product I was able to cover my full face with an even layer. It didn’t feel heavy and provided a luminous finish (before I added a matte powder). Sometimes foundations look blotchy on my skin by the end of the day, but this one did not. Overall this is a win in my book and a I will repurchase!

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer

Description: The oil-free concealer helps cover up imperfections and dark circles instantly. The lightweight formula blends easily for all day coverage.
Color Range: 6
Price: $5.99

This product was recommended to me, but I am not impressed. I have blueish/purple under eye circles and felt no matter how much product I used it wouldn’t camouflage them. I applied this product with a beautyblender, maybe a concealer brush would work better. Overall I will pass on repurchasing this product.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Powder

Description: Mattifies and leaves a poreless-looking finish with long-lasting shine control. Skin stays poreless and perfectly matte for up to 16 hours.
Color Range: 12
Price: $5.99

I was impressed by this product. Even though two of the foundations I picked up were glowy/luminous I still like a matte finish. This product really did make me matte and poreless. On Friday I only applied moisturizer and this powder and my face instantly had a smooth look. It didn’t hid any discoloration or imperfections, but it also doesn’t claim too. The description says it leaves you matte for up to 16 hours. This I don’t believe. After 8 hours at work, shine was starting to show through, but re-powdering doesn’t take that much effort so I’m fine with it. Overall I would probably repurchase this product.

I hope you enjoyed this post and have a great week. Until next post…xoxo Becca

Recent Purchases

Hello and welcome to a new week! Hope you enjoyed the weekend. Today I’m reviewing a couple of my recent purchases.

Loft

I bought this shirt on sale at Loft a few weeks ago and can’t stop wearing it! It’s nice as a tank for these hot summer days or wearing to work under a cardigan or jacket. Only a few sizes left, snag one while you can.

Loft

Also bought this at Loft. Haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but the structure is nice if you’re a pencil skirt lover like I am. I picked this skirt because I had seen it featured on Extra Petite last year in gray. The fabric is thick, but light enough for summer and I love the fact that it has pockets. The waist is a little large on me, but I also have a tiny waist compared to my hips. A little alteration and it will fit perfect! Can’t wait to style it and feature it soon.

Lush

I picked up this product two weeks ago (mentioned here) and have been using it twice a day. I wanted to give you a review in case you were hoping I’d write one.

The idea behind Lush Cosmetics is making good products using fresh and organic ingredients, use little or no preservatives, and they list all the ingredients used on their packaging. There is a lot more about their beliefs on the website. All in all I think this is a great idea. With some products you have no clue what you’re putting on your body.

I picked Skin Drink because I wanted to try a new moisturizer. I had been using Origins GinZing and like it, but thought trying something else may be even more effective with my dry skin. See my skincare routine here. This product definitely makes my skin feel soft and smooth. If you have a sensitive nose this isn’t the product for you. It’s very “earthy” and something makes me wonder why am I slathering this on my face if it doesn’t smell good, but it works well! I use it at night and put it on under my foundation in the morning. All day my skin feels hydrated, but not greasy. I look forward to giving my skin a nice “drink” at the end of the day. Heck, I like a drink at the end of the day, but that’s beside the point. I would recommend this product!

What products or clothes have you bought recently you’d recommend?

Until next post…xoxo Becca
